I think it's hilarious, manufacturers go to all this trouble to make the vehicle quiet inside, then you stick a noisy ass metal snorkel on it, I have always used Safari, never had noises inside from them, I think it's the rear facing and being made from metal that make them noisier, couldn't think of a worst noise to constantly listen to on a 1000k trip, besides a droning exhaust, some love both noises some don't I am from the don't, I want my vehicle quiet and comfortable inside.

'U3000'? When A Ranger goes wrong it's too often attributed to the electronics. The owner has no idea what the problem is, the dealerships too often don't know and weeks later Ford are not sure. And 4 weeks waiting for the part is BS. It only takes a Ford parts employee to walk into the store, grab the part and send it express courier, 2 days maximum!

Have a look at Milwaukee Packout drawers for your rear setup instead of the tubs. They are lightweight, durable and modular. Would love to see your take on this idea.

you missed a chance to climb the Gloucester tree (chicken). I'm now 76 and I climbed that when I was 50. It's ok going up but a lot harder coming down, and on reaching the bottom my wife (who had been waiting at the bottom ) said ok, lets go a short walk and I couldn't because my leg muscles had seized up, had to wait for about 10 mins to get right. And at that time of my life I was still going to a gym, lifting weights and doing aerobics, so was reasonably fit. So go do it! And good luck.

Hi mate. Sorry missed this. Currently on a trip up north. I can’t actually remember where we cable tied - not sure if there’s a bit in the vid that shows that. @Perth4WDandCamping 17 дней назад

Thanks mate! Believe imported and then installed on site. Did look at an upright but decided to use my current fridge for now. I did look into the weights and was actually not too much in it as the tilt slide is alloy (at 19kg weights a lot less than a drop slide) and and my chest fridge is only 18kg. Can also fit more in a chest fridge as you can stack items. Also being able to easily remove the fridge when not on trips is good to cut a bit of weight. Saying that I’ll use it for a bit and see - upright might be something I look at in the future. I think with either set up, kids would need a step as the tray is pretty high on 33s and lift.

Was sooo close to pulling the trigger on the 1200 mate - in fact I was set on this initially with tray sides at the back. BUT in the end opted for more usable and covered space and I’m so pleased I went for the 1500. I think 1200 would have just restricted space too much for what we travel with. With the tilt fridge, a couple of reasons: - being able to use my existing fridge and saving a bit of money - weight savings. I did a bit of research and the alloy tilt slide with my 50L Dometic was a bit lighter than a stand up fridge and the bracket - Flexibly: easier to remove a chest fridge when not in use saving weight for daily driving and creating more space in the canopy

Hate the new cars beeping at me for trying to down shift at Revs they don’t like, not having a seatbelt on when i start it or things like limp mode. Can’t beat mechanical. Even 79 series get limp mode codes for random reasons which also seams to happen when in soft sand when you need it most.. what is your coolant temp normally I note you said it was at 99, that should be safe still given a pressurised system however I wonder if it was climbing rapidly and the engine senses a risk and cuts fuel delivery?

Yeah for sure. The beeps can be annoying. I have my ritual everytime I start the car turning things off ha! Coolant is usually well under 100 - this was a particularly warm day and soft sand. These cars will definitely go into protection mode if they detect things getting too hot. At times I wish I had something oldschool, but on the flipslide this is so nice to drive as a daily and tows like a dream. Always pros and cons hey.

Nice. I think a lot depends on the car / engine too. V6 Ranger ones are loud

Did they install a driveline spacer kit when they did the lift?

For the majority of people who get a snorkel…. It’s about the look… they crave that testosterone. Fords have a 800mm wading depth… unless you’re very experienced… you ain’t going through that water ( and your wife will have you by the balls if you did 😂) and as for dust… it’s much cheaper just to buy a new air filter and no noise.

There’s definitely those that chase the look. I was always going to get one - had a good experience with the TJM on the Pajero Sport and the difference to dust was crazy. It’s fair enough to say just change the filter but when you’re doing a lot of dusty driving it does add up. 800mm wading depth as standard is pretty good - more than most will ever need.
